About me

Hi, I'm Valentina Canil, and I'm a therapist working in private practice in Coorabell, Northern Rivers NSW, Australia.

I am passionate about supporting people to develop a better, more compassionate understanding of themselves and others. For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in human beings, how we can support one another, and how we can create changes that truly last. I love helping people overcome difficulties and recurring life patterns that may be limiting them, and supporting them to move towards a more fulfilling, meaningful and joyful life, both individually and in their relationships.

As a Mental Health Occupational Therapist and a student of Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy, my approach includes the use of mindfulness and somatic techniques to support healing. I'm particularly interested in the relationship between our nervous system, our lived experiences and the ways we move through everyday life.

I believe I can best support people by helping them find their own answers at their own pace. One way I do this is by gently turning towards the inner wisdom of the body through mindfulness, where many of the answers we are looking for may already lie. My focus is to provide a safe, empathic space where clients can become curious and make discoveries about themselves, while also developing the resources they need to navigate their difficulties.

In our work together, I draw on occupational therapy, mindfulness and somatic approaches to explore how your experiences, emotions, body sensations and daily routines shape your life. Rather than focusing on fixing or changing who you are, I aim to support you in recognising your strengths and finding ways of living that feel more authentic and sustainable for you.

I value creating a space where you can show up as you are, without pressure to have everything figured out. A space where you feel met with compassion and can explore what matters to you, at a pace that feels right for you.
